'In the same way that Road Rage was taken from Crazy Taxi this borrows heavily from Grand Theft Auto. it is free-roaming, you have the ability to get in and out of car and you can explore various levels of Springfield, I've played enough missions to open two at the moment, just as in Road Rage they don't appear to interlink. All the GTA gameplay bar the weaponry are here, your car even blows up when damaged, but humorously you can still drive it very slowly, the missions are boring and repetitive though, it's always drive here and pick up this or that, or ram someone's car in so they can't get where they're going.
Also If anyone remembers a good little rendition of Springfield for the PC called Virtual Springfield, that was what I was hoping Springfield would be like. The levels so far fell a bit linear and force you go to in one general direction, there is no grid design like how Springfield must be. In fact it all seems to go in a circle, maybe next time It'd would've been better to scrap the various levels and just have one giant Springfield grid a la the open plan nature of a GTA city.
All the character's voices are there, but some of the sayings do get repeated ad nauseum and some have just been taken off Road Rage.
Interiors haven't been explored greatly not that I can conclusively tell, but another feature of Virtual Springfield which was more like a Simpsons scrapbook was the exploration you had when you could access all the rooms in the simpsons house and Flanders' house for example, here you can access the front room but the rest of the house is barricaded off. I would've liked the town to feature more in-jokes.
Graphically it's all you would expect, it's just like the show using what is probably cel-shaded graphics, the characters look a little bit like that episode when Homer enters the 3D world behind the couch.
Simpsons Road Rage had a simple premise and once you understood that, it didn't disappoint. But this one promises to deliver more but you feel it's lacking. Who knows after a few more plays...' - #3Simpsons hit and run looks great and it got 80% in Gamesmaster and NGC. If your into the Simpsons go and get it.
